We are excited to be able to welcome two new members to the D124 Board of Education this year! David Sheppard and Lauren Dowden will both be joining the board beginning in May, and are getting ready to get to work for our community. Let’s get to know them a bit!
David Sheppard has lived in Evergreen Park 24 years and enjoys spending time with his family, learning new things, and taking time to review the day and plan for tomorrow. He says that he loves to help others and is looking forward to accomplishing great things on the board.
“I love having the opportunity to help plan the future educational paths for our children here in the village”
Lauren Dowden has lived in Evergreen Park for nine years and can often be found with her family at the Evergreen Park Community Center enjoying activities like holiday events, spin classes, ballet, or t-ball.
She says she’s always got an earbud in her ear listening to a good book or podcast and enjoys traveling, a passion which started when she and her husband studied abroad in college. Now they travel with their two daughters and get out every chance they get.
“I am so excited to get started on the board! I can’t wait to start serving the community that I love so much.”
We look forward to welcoming our new board members soon! We’d also like to thank Kim Leonard and Claudia Parker who are leaving the board this year. Your service to our district and our community has made such a difference and we are so grateful for your time!
Two current members of the board were also reelected. Denise Jones and Michael Aumiller will continue to serve our district on the board of education. We are excited to have the service of these two board members continue for our community.
Denise Jones has been on the board for two years and will continue her service to the community during another four year term. She looks forward to continuing to serve the students and community of Evergreen Park.
“I love serving on the school board because it allows me to be the voice for teachers, students, parents and the community as a whole. I love being able to participate in special activities for the students, professional development for the teachers and community meetings with the parents to hear their ideas all in an effort to move the district forward.”
Michael Aumiller was also reelected to the board for a two year term. He is excited to continue his service to the community where he has lived for the last five years.
“Being a member of the board of education is an opportunity to serve my community and stay involved in my children's education, and I am excited for what the future holds.”
