All Evergreen Park Elementary School District 124 students in fourth through eighth grade had the opportunity to get outside and view the solar eclipse on Aug. 21.
"We were very excited to be able to experience this event with our students. It was truly unique opportunity for our students,” said Kathleen Prado, EPSD 124’s Director of Curriculum and Instruction. “Safety during the viewing was our top priority. We purchased NASA-approved glasses for our students. We also educated them on the dangers of viewing without protective eye wear to insure their safety."
The students and staff members wore protective viewing glasses during their entire time outside. The District purchased glasses from Rainbow Symphony that are ISO-certified for this event and satisfy proper requirements.
